Athletics - Triple Jump

The triple jump is a track and field event consisting of covering the longest possible distance by jumping from a fixed marker, after a run-up, and executing a sequence of three jumps. The jump must be performed in such a way that the athlete lands first on the foot with which they took off and then, on the second jump, on the other foot, from which the jump is then completed. Like the long jump, athletes have a run-up to gain speed and take their momentum before a board. At the end of the last jump, they land in sand to cushion their fall. The three successive leaps performed are: a hop, skip and jump.
