Athletics - High Jump

The high jump is a track and field event that consists of jumping over a bar placed between two vertical supports by pushing off on one leg.
The athlete who clears the highest bar wins the competition. The jumpers must take off on one foot only. Competitors have a limited time to start their run-up (30 seconds). The competition is governed by two general principles: the bar can never be lowered, and competitors are eliminated after three successive failed attempts. The bar is raised in steps (from 5 cm to 5 cm at the beginning of the competition, then from 3 to 3 cm). When a jumper has failed their first attempt (or two attempts) at a given height, they are entitled to pass and keep their two attempts (or last attempt) to attempt a subsequent height directly. It is only on the third successive failed attempt that they are eliminated, so these failed attempts may have taken place at different heights.
