Athletics - Long Jump

The long jump is a field and track event consisting of covering the longest possible distance by jumping from a fixed mark after gaining momentum. It was already one of the events of the ancient Olympics and is present in the modern Olympics. The minimum length of the run-up is 40 metres, the maximum length being unlimited. A competitor may place his or her own marks on the run-up. The take-off board must be 1.21 m to 1.22 m long, 198 to 202 mm wide and 100 mm thick. The width of the landing zone must be at least 2.75 m wide.
