As its name suggests, it is hockey, but played underwater. Sometimes, to invent a new game, there is nothing more fun than to move a sport into another context or mix two existing sports.

Ultimately, did you think that jujitsu was a Japanese sport? Well yes, it is. However, there is in fact a version which offers some Brazil sauce. 

  1. Kin-ball

Why should ball sports be played with 2 teams and a small ball? Kin-ball, which originated in Canada, focusses on a completely different dynamic as it is played by 3 teams with a huge ball. 

  1. Roller derby

And why not a contact sport on roller skates played predominantly by women? Roller derby combines power, speed and a team spirit on roller skates. A great programme! 

  1. Ultimate Frisbee

A sport which is often played mixed, Ultimate (for lovers) is becoming increasingly popular in the Brussels region. The team sport requires you to move the disc through passes and into the opponents’ goal. 

  1. Goalball

A ball? A goal? What is goalball? It is actually a sport played by the visually impaired, in teams of three, and entails scoring by throwing a ball with bells embedded in it into the opponents’ goal. Did you not know it? Well, it is a Palalympic sport! 

  1. Wushu

At sport.brussels, you will find plenty of martial arts clubs in the Brussels region. There is one to suit all tastes! Did you know about Wushu? This Chinese martial art focusses as much on the hands as weapons.
