The Pilates method, sometimes simply called Pilates, is a system of physical activity developed at the beginning of the 20th century by a sports and human body enthusiast, Joseph Pilates. This method is practised on the mat with or without accessories or with the help of equipment. It aims to develop deep muscles, improve posture, balance the muscles and increase joint flexibility, for the maintenance, improvement or restoration of physical functions.
