Pelota

Pelota, which translates as ball game, is an outdoor team sport that comes under the “jeu de paume” or “palm game” family, where two teams of five players hit a small ball, called a pelota ball, back and forth with a gloved hand. The aim of the game is to gain ground and it is popular in the western part of Belgium - in the provinces of Namur, Hainaut, Walloon Brabant, Flemish Brabant and East Flanders - as well as in France, in the Sambre Valley and the Valenciennes region.
