Fencing

Fencing is a combat sport. It is the art of touching the authorised parts of the opponent’s body with the tip or the side (estoc and taille) of a blade without being touched in return. Three types of weapons are used in the Olympic Games by both women and men: epee, sabre and foil. Fencing is one of the sports where French is the official language: each country uses its language for national competitions, but French is compulsory for refereeing in international competitions.
