Bowling

Bowling comes from the verb to bowl, which means “to throw”, also known as a game of boules or bowling. It is a game that has been popularised in its current form in the United States and involves knocking down pins with a ball. The lane is 1.05 metres wide and 18.29 metres long and perfectly flat. Its width is made up of 39 wooden slats that provide guidance to the players. If the ball leaves the lane, it is collected by the gullies and re-routed to the ball lift by a rail system; no points are then collected. The approach area is 4.87 metres long. There are different types of balls: woody balls (without cores that roll in a straight line on the track); curving bowling balls (which allow the ball to have a curved trajectory).
