Combat Sports - Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a sport discipline belonging to the group of combat sports based on punching and kicking developed in the early 1960s. The discipline is most commonly written, in French, “kick-boxing” and, in English, “kickboxing”. Strictly speaking, there is no major international body managing the discipline, but rather a series of world federations developing this practice in competition. The offensive techniques of arm strikes (punches) are taken from English boxing, while the offensive techniques of leg strikes (kicks) are identical to those of martial arts and can target the whole body (at the three levels: head, chest and thighs). A particularity of Japanese kick-boxing is that knee blows can be delivered at all three levels.
