Korfbal
Korfbal is a mixed team sport similar to basketball invented in the Netherlands in 1902. The Dutch term Korfbal means “ball in the basket”. Korfbal pits two teams of eight players against each other. The game is played indoors (40 × 20 metres) and outdoors (40 x 20 metres in Belgium) on a pitch divided into two zones. A post is placed in each zone. It is 3.5 metres high and has a bottomless, cylindrical basket into which players try to throw the ball.
